Yoga for real people, real life, really!.
Hi! I’m Candace Lee
Founder of Candace Lee Yoga, home of Serenity and Vitality.
Truth be told… growing up I didn’t have an athletic bone in my body. I was “that” kid in gym class called on last. I dreaded the physical fitness tests each year, mortifying! I was small, quiet and so crazy shy I still wonder how I made it through those years.
Fast forward a few decades… I was introduced to what would be a life changer.
My very first yoga class. After college, my daughter starting taking classes and just knew I would love it. Funny, it took her 7 months to get me there. It was a fast, high intensity, bring a towel with you, style of yoga (hot power vinyasa). She was right! It was exactly what I needed and it felt so good!!
I was instantly hooked and quickly integrated five classes a week into my already hectic life. Moving and sweating. My 40 something body was growing stronger, more limber and right under my nose, my self-confidence was growing, too. For the first time EVER, I was feeling good about myself.
…a door I had not known existed had cracked open.
Over the next small handful of years, I continued my yoga practice, including exploring many different styles of yoga and dove into yoga teacher training all while coming to the realization that not only do I have what it takes to navigate some much needed personal changes, it was imperative to take action.
So, I have met marriage & divorce. I have relocated and rediscovered myself multiple times. My babies have grown and are starting to have their own babies. I have overcome many personal hurdles as well as the collective hurdles the pandemic offered and I have a new love.
Then right on cue, my body began changing, the nudge behind the creation of Serenity and Vitality.
I was beginning to receive some feedback from my body that was new, different. This is apparently part of being a 50 something female.
I didn’t want it to stop me and my body was telling me I couldn’t do things quite the same.
Well, I didn’t come this far to only come this far.
I am here to offer you something more. There’s nothing like feeling so good about yourself that you will unapologetically take a stand to prioritize your health, your emotional state, who your friends are, who you look up to.
I know you want to keep doing more of the things you love, with more ease.
Remembering our practices, tuning into our strengths and vulnerabilities, knowing how to fall and get back up, how to sit a little deeper, hold a little longer, come to the edge, know when enough is enough and melt into stillness is how we continue those joys, even with our ever changing variables.
This is the Serenity and Vitality experience. The practice of calm & connection empowering your life.
My intention is to offer you choices so YOU may decide what best serves your needs, your body, mind and soul to grow stronger and feel good longer, even after 50 🩷
I am trauma informed, which is a fancy way to say, you’re safe here. The power of choice is all yours. You don’t need to be bendy, strong, or any sort of “yoga pro”…
I will ask this from you… but it’s for YOU. Get as clear as you can on your why, your purpose, the reason you are still reading this. Yes, it will change as you do, that’s okay. Then illuminate everything that will default you to distraction (you must call out the things that will pull you off course). This awareness is power. It’s how you work out the wrinkles and help you make this an important commitment to yourself more consistently.
On a relatively challenging day, right before teaching a class, I once told my students yoga teachers are not all zen, all peace all the time, we’ve simply learned some really good tools… we had a great class that night!
